12. EU projects across the continent, unite

Special edition: European elections

Welcome to The Gender Diplomat!

The elections to the European Parliament in June appoint MEPs from the 27 member states of the EU, who vote on matters that influence the policies of each country. But a considerable proportion of Portuguese (56%) feel poorly informed about the electoral programmes of the political groups with seats in the European Parliament, according to a recent poll. Only 13 per cent claim to be informed about the elections. The decision on which party to vote for is made on the basis of information on electoral programmes (41%) or by following the political colour they support at national level. The lack of information available to decide is the justification of a third of those who say they don't intend to vote in June.

So I'm on a mission to prove these people wrong when they claim a "lack of information" available to voters. Below in this newsletter is a list of projects that talk about and simplify the EU, the elections in particular, and what's at stake in the next mandate.

Also, NATO has launched an anniversary mural painting competition in Washington, D.C., if you’re into arts, peace and security!

No excuses: here’s how the EU elections will work and don’t forget to #UseYourVote in June

🇪🇺 Here’s a non-exhaustive list of civil society projects on the EU, on participatory democracy in general, and the European elections in particular
